Chairman's Corner
Welcome to our website!
The success of Republican candidates in the 2009 election has left us enthusiastic about the future, humbled by the voter’s confidence, and energized for 2010. We thank all of you who, by your vote, have expressed your belief in Republican governance.
Here in Wallingford, Mayor Bill Dickinson won his unprecedented 14th term. With the reelection of Councilors Jerry Farrell Jr., John LeTourneau, Bob Parisi and Rosemary Rascati and the election of Vincent Cervoni and Craig Fishbein, there is now a 6-3 Republican majority in the Town Council.
Board of Education incumbents Tom Hennessey and Roxane McKay won reelection and now assume the Chair and Vice Chair positions. They are joined by successful candidates Michael Brooder, Joe Marrone and Chet Miller to form a majority on that body.
Election night 2009 was a great night for the Republican party, as the voters sent our candidates to office in towns and cities across the state. Nationally, New Jersey and Virginia elected Republican governors. For a party quickly written off after the November 2008 election, this is very encouraging news. It shows that the ideas of smaller government and stable taxes are not so out of fashion after all.
2010 is another very important year for all Americans. At the very least, our state will see a new Governor, a new Attorney General and Secretary of State and new U.S. Senator. The political tides are shifting, and you can count on Republicans here in Wallingford to do our share to help that along.
We welcome you to join us in that effort. I promise you that participation in the political process through the Wallingford Republican Town Committee will be as fulfilling an experience for you as it is for all our members.
Bob Prentice
Chairman, Wallingford Republican Town Committee
